⚡ Akkan Fleet Efficiency · Pilot

Trim optimization &
carbon compliance for your fleet

Akkan Fleet Efficiency is a web platform our naval architects are building for shipowners. You add your vessels, we prepare each ship's performance tables from its own data, and the platform calculates optimum trim, voyage fuel and CO₂, CII rating, EEXI and EU ETS exposure in one place.

Status — pilot phase. The platform is open to a limited number of pilot owners and is not yet a self-service product. Results are engineering estimates for operational and commercial decisions; they do not replace class-approved documents or verified emissions reports.

One vessel model, five answers

Every calculation runs on the same vessel-specific data set, so trim, fuel, CII, EEXI and ETS figures stay consistent with each other.

⟋

Trim Optimization

Required brake power for each trim at your speed and mean draft, from the vessel's own resistance and propulsion data. The platform finds the minimum-power trim and shows the kW and fuel difference against your current trim. Wind, sea state and current corrections included. See a case study →

⛽

Voyage Fuel & CO₂

Daily and voyage fuel consumption with a speed sweep, so the cost of one extra knot is visible before the charter party is fixed. CO₂ by fuel type, using IMO carbon factors.

A–E

IMO CII Rating

Attained and required CII with the A–E rating, using the IMO reference lines and rating boundaries (MEPC.353(78), MEPC.354(78)) and the reduction factors adopted by IMO, projected to 2030. Try the free CII calculator →

◎

EEXI Screening

Attained versus required EEXI and the engine power limitation needed to comply (MARPOL Annex VI, MEPC.350(78)). A screening estimate to size the problem early — the approved EEXI Technical File stays with your class society.

€

EU ETS Exposure

EU allowances to surrender and their cost at the price you enter, with voyage coverage (100% intra-EU, 50% to/from non-EU ports), the 2024–2026 phase-in and methane / nitrous oxide from 2026.

▤

Fleet View

All your vessels on one screen. Each owner account sees only its own fleet; performance tables are maintained by our engineers, not typed in by the crew.

Engineering first, software second

Trim advice is only as good as the hydrodynamic data behind it. That is why each vessel starts as an engineering job, not as a sign-up form.

Share vessel data

Speed-power data at several drafts and trims (model test, sea trial or CFD), propeller data and main particulars.

We build the tables

Our naval architects check the data and prepare the vessel's performance tables. Gaps are reported before any work starts.

Your fleet goes live

We set up your owner account and load your vessels onto the platform.

Use and review

Your office and fleet managers run the calculations for voyage planning; we review the results with you during the pilot.

Trim optimization is not new to us

In 2013 our team delivered trim optimization and energy efficiency studies on 27 commercial vessels — bulk carriers, crude oil and chemical tankers and a Ro-Ro, from 4,100 to 180,000 DWT. The platform brings the same engineering method to the web, with CII, EEXI and EU ETS added. See a trim case study → · Reference list →

Questions owners ask first

Is this a software licence I can buy and install?

No. It is a web platform in pilot phase. Accounts are set up by our team, and the performance data behind each vessel is prepared by our naval architects. Commercial terms will be set after the pilot.

Can the results be used for statutory submissions?

No. Results are engineering estimates for operational and commercial decisions. The EEXI Technical File, SEEMP Part III and verified MRV / EU ETS emissions reports remain with your class society and accredited verifier.

What data do you need for trim optimization?

Speed-power data at several drafts and trims (model test, sea trial or CFD), hull-propeller interaction factors and the propeller open-water curve. If part of this is missing, we tell you what can be derived and what cannot before any work starts.

How is the EU ETS obligation phased in for shipping?

Companies surrender allowances for 40% of 2024 emissions, 70% of 2025 emissions and 100% from 2026. Voyages within the EU and emissions at berth in EU ports count 100%; voyages between an EU and a non-EU port count 50%. Methane and nitrous oxide are included from 2026. Allowances are surrendered by 30 September of the following year. The scheme covers ships of 5,000 GT and above; offshore ships of 5,000 GT and above join from 2027.

Who can see my vessel data?

In the pilot, each owner account sees only its own fleet. Vessel data is used only to prepare your calculations and is never published.
