⚙ In-house Engineering

Naval Architecture &
Marine Engineering

From concept design through detailed conversion projects — Akkan Maritime's in-house naval architects deliver stability calculations, FEA structural analysis, CFD flow analysis and class-society-grade documentation across every vessel segment.

A track record built on calculations that hold up

From the first stability report in 2003 to today's complex floating drydock designs, every project leaves a paper trail that has been audited, approved, and signed off by IACS member societies.

What our naval architects deliver

Whether you need a single calculation for a regulatory filing, a full FEA campaign for a major conversion, or a complete concept design package — our engineering team can deliver, partially or completely.

Stability Calculations

Intact and damaged stability assessments, IMO compliance, longitudinal strength analysis, trim & list studies, light ship verification.

Finite Element Analysis (FEA)

Structural FEA for newbuilding and conversion projects, fatigue analysis, A-frame and crane stress assessments, panel buckling studies.

CFD Flow Analysis

Computational fluid dynamics for hull resistance, propeller-hull interaction, wake field optimization, energy efficiency studies.

Conversion Projects

End-to-end conversion engineering — major hull modifications, deck rearrangements, mid-life upgrades, FSO/FPSO conversions.

Stockholm Calculations

RoPax stability under SOLAS Stockholm Agreement, water-on-deck analysis, damaged stability for passenger vessels.

Panama Canal Structural Design

New Panama Canal structural design compliance, Neo-Panamax dimensional optimization, transit-specific structural analysis.

Vessel types we design from the keel up

Decades of focused experience in specific vessel families — these are the segments where Akkan Maritime offers full concept-to-delivery design capability, not just selective calculations.

Livestock Carriers

Specialized livestock carrier design including ventilation systems, fodder distribution, manure handling, animal welfare compliance, and structural reinforcement for high-deck-density operations.

Up to 10,500 SQM Fodder Systems Conversion Specialist

Antipollution Vessels

Antipollution boat design for harbour cleaning operations — purpose-built designs with floating debris collection, oil spill response equipment, and shallow-draft maneuverability.

Mavideniz 2 (2005) Bay Cleaner (2009) Amphi-Clean (2016)

Nordic Type Fishing Boats

Ice-class fishing vessels designed for Nordic and Arctic operations — reinforced hulls, heating systems, weather protection, and accommodation standards meeting Northern European crewing requirements.

Ice 1A / 1B / 1C RMRS Approved Iceland & Faroe

Open Sea Fishing Trawlers

Long-range freezing trawlers and factory vessels for open ocean operations. Our ORCA Class series (35m / 45m / 55m) is designed specifically for North Atlantic conditions with full processing capability.

Designed to IACS member standards

Every Akkan Maritime design is engineered to satisfy IACS (International Association of Classification Societies) member standards. We work natively across the major societies relevant to Turkish, Greek, Russian and Northern European markets.

Loading Instrument Software

Our team has delivered approved loading instrument software on more than 126 commercial vessels across the Greek shipping market — covering bulk carriers, tankers, chemical tankers, and RoRo vessels. From the smallest Handysize to the largest VLCC, our calculations are accepted across the major class societies.

FV Daria — Funnel Beam Structural Analysis

A documented example of Akkan Maritime's structural FEA capability: the funnel beam structural analysis report for the FV Daria (ex-Ocean Concorde) 67m freezer trawler modernization. The study evaluates total deformation, longitudinal, transverse, and vertical displacement under maximum load — calculated using Straus7 finite element software and validated against IACS class rule limits.

Brattwaag winch foundation deformation analysis — Beam displacement under 300 kN load, Straus7 FEA by Akkan Maritime
Straus7 FEA · IACS Compliant

Brattwaag Winch Foundation Analysis

Beam displacement analysis under 300 kN winch load. Maximum displacement: 0.0016 m. Validated against IACS class structural rules for deck-mounted winch foundations on commercial fishing trawlers.

  • Vessel: FV Daria 814281
  • Analysis tool: Straus7 Release 2.3.3
  • Load case: 300 kN winch pull
  • Class society: RMRS

Funnel beam deformation under maximum load

FV Daria funnel beam — Total deformation result (Figure 17) and longitudinal X-direction (Figure 18)
Figures 17 + 18

Total + Longitudinal Deformation

Maximum total deformation (DMX) of 3.1 mm and longitudinal X-direction range from −0.22 to 0.9 mm — within class-allowable limits for funnel beam structures.

FV Daria funnel beam — Transverse Y-direction (Figure 19) and Vertical Z-direction deformation (Figure 20)
Figures 19 + 20

Transverse + Vertical Deformation

Y-direction deformation range −0.25 to 0.76 mm; Z-direction range −3.04 to 0.19 mm. Stress concentration localized at funnel-deck interface, validated against allowable thresholds.

Engineering deliverable: The FV Daria modernization required complete structural FEA validation for the new funnel and winch installations under RMRS class. Akkan Maritime's in-house engineering team (with IEA Technik) delivered the analysis report, FEA verification, and class-society submission package — enabling the project's successful class approval and entry into service.
